Ellen began her professional career as an educator earning a Bachelor’s degree from Smith College and a Master’s degree in Education from Boston College. As a kindergarten teacher, Ellen practiced the concepts and methods of organizing! In a room with 30 students, all scurrying between centers to accomplish tasks, she created and implemented effective ways to organize time and space. Her career includes work at various businesses in Houston and Kingwood College.
Making a difference for others has always been important to Ellen. Ellen has worked in a major volunteer capacity organizing efforts for two charities, Mothers Against Cancer, a fundraising effort for children’s cancer research funds for Texas Children’s Hospital, and Kingwood Women’s Club, a philanthropic women’s group working in the Northeast area of Houston, Texas. Ellen has been active in American Business Women’s Association serving as Education Chair. She is a speaker throughout the Houston area at the Attention Deficit Disorder Association, Kingwood, Atascocita, and Mercer Arboretum Libraries, North Harris and Kingwood College Academy for Lifelong Learning, the International Association of Administrative Assistants and many other associations. Ellen continues to give back to the community with her ongoing speaking series Sharing Organizing Solutions (SOS), Take Back Your Life Now seminar in collaboration with Deborah Olson, and newly created Clutter Support Group.
Ellen’s passion for organizing, as well as her desire to assist and empower others, led her to create Professional-Organizer.com in 2000. Ellen is a Golden Circle member of the National Association Of Professional Organizers (NAPO) and a founding member of the NAPO Houston Chapter. In addition to being a member of the education and certification committees in NAPO, she has been 2008 NAPO National Conference Chair and past President of NAPO Houston. She currently serves on the national association’s Leadership Development Committee and Statistics Database Committee. As a member of the Institute for Challenging Disorganization, she holds two certificates of study concerning Chronic Disorganization and ADD issues and the Level II Chronic Disorganization Specialist Certificate.
